- When cooking, remember to put a lid on your pan. Keeping the heat in helps cook food faster.
- Fix dripping taps and leaks. Even small leaks waste water and energy.
- Close curtains at night. This helps keep heat inside your home.
- Bleed radiators every six months. This removes air and improves energy efficiency.
- Keep your fridge as full as possible. A fuller fridge stays cold more easily and uses less energy.
- Turn devices off at the wall. Electronics still use power on standby.
- Leave space around radiators. Warm air can circulate more freely.
- Upgrade appliances where possible. Often, newer models use less electricity.
- Keep appliances clean, so they run more efficiently. E.g. descale your kettle when needed.
- Use shorter, cooler cycles when washing clothes. Even 10° cooler can make a big difference.
